On May 29, 2025, the first pilot workshop of the Culturhythmics project was successfully implemented in Padova, Italy, marking a significant milestone in the development of this innovative training methodology.
Blending movement, rhythm, and culture
The workshop was led by experienced trainers Slobodan Smiljanic and Tan Temel, and brought together athletes from the USMA volleyball team for a unique, holistic training experience. The session combined elements of functional movement preparation—such as breathwork, foam rolling, strength activation, and dynamic mobility—with cultural rhythm-based dance and coordination techniques.
Boosting performance through creative synergy
This fusion of disciplines went beyond standard athletic training. While supporting physical performance, it also enhanced mental focus, team synergy, and creative expression—core values of the Culturhythmics methodology. Athletes were encouraged to explore new ways of moving, connecting, and responding as a group.
A meaningful step forward
The pilot session served as an important opportunity to test and refine the approach in a real-world athletic context. Feedback from participants and trainers alike will inform the next phases of development, helping shape the methodology into a versatile tool for sports, education, and beyond.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Culturhythmics project continues to evolve and expand across borders.
